If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13 v 2.

The Salvation Army’s mission is to “go into the world of the hurting, broken, lonely, dispossessed and lost, reaching them in love by all means.” When setting out our beliefs, it is our hope that they will reflect God’s love. The things that we do at Hedge End – worship, pray, serve and offer friendship - we do as a result of His love and a desire to share it with all.

Our Beliefs
  • We believe that the Holy Bible is inspired by God as the complete and final authority on Christian faith and practice.
  • We believe that there is only one God – the perfect, living, Sovereign Creator.
  • We believe that God is three distinct persons, united in one – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that humanity was created by God in His likeness, but through disobedience became sinful and separate from God, and therefore unable to remedy this fallen state for themselves.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the expressed image of God, who without ceasing to be God, became man in order to provide the means for salvation.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died in our place to redeem us from sin.
  • We believe that we are saved by God’s gift of forgiveness and through faith in Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ and that He will one day return to this world.
  • We believe in the resurrection of all people - believers to everlasting joy and the wicked to eternal punishment.
